Dealing with Anxiety

We all know these are difficult times. The pandemic and lockdowns have challenged everyone, with most people finding it difficult to cope in one way or another. In such strange and uncertain times, it’s not unusual to feel out-of-sorts, unsure, upset and anxious. None of us know what the future holds, and uncertainty triggers the very human response of anxiety. Anxiety comes in many guises, some more severe than others. Ranging from feelings of unease right through to panic attacks, anxiety can make us feel disconnected, powerless, out-of-control and scared.

This workshop is designed to help you learn about anxiety and what you can do about it. We will share proven tips and techniques that can help you to restore calm and balance and which, with dedicated practice, can start to ease severe anxiety out of your life.

Symptoms of Anxiety

  • racing thoughts
  • feelings of dread, panic or impending doom
  • heightened alertness
  • difficulties sleeping
  • feeling irritable or having outbursts of anger
  • difficulty concentrating
  • changes in appetite
  • wanting to escape from your situation
  • dissociation – where you feel like you are disconnected from your own body or like you are just watching what is happening around you without feeling it
  • Physical sensations such as a racing heart, sweating, stomach upsets, heavy or rapid breathing, feeling dizzy or faint and nausea

The Workshop

In the workshop we will explore:

  • the physical mechanism of anxiety and why it happens
  • your own ‘flavour’ of anxiety and what triggers it
  • tools and techniques for dealing with it

You will get the opportunity to try out some of the tools and techniques and you will also see that you are not alone, and that what you are going through is part of being human. it is a perfectly natural response to challenging times and there is a way out!
